Power Steering Delete Block
SKU: TCP0247 OverviewGARAGISTIC E30, E36, E46, Z3, E82, E90, AND E92 POWER STEERING DELETE BLOCK
As with many things in this world, there is a right way to do something; to properly delete power steering, you'll need to proper parts and tools. When many E30 or E36 owners get their car, the most common upgrade for their Bimmer is to delete their power steering.
Many people ask, why would you get rid of something that aids in the steering? The answer is quite simple and ironic; power steering is meant to aid the driver and comfortably assist when navigating parking lots. The problem with these driver aids, power steering included, is that they cause an overall "numbing" effect on steering. This, in turn, causes you to not feel various steering responses that you should. The driver feedback is an important tool that gets watered down with power steering, resulting in slower track times, steering response, and an overall false sense of where you truly stand in a turn. Without any driver-aids, you'll be able to better gauge just how hard you can take a turn.
Many track E30, E36, E46, and Z3 run with no power-steering to get a better "feel" for what the car is doing. However, many people are needing to ghetto rig a hose on the factory banjo fittings or worse yet, they are using plug systems that do no allow for fluid/air to get from one side of the rack to the other. This often results in blown seals and a higher rate of steering effort. It comes with crush washers! Power Steering deletes offer numerous benefits, it's definitely a lot of bang for the buck and an easy install.
Our steering aluminum PSD block is made of high-quality aluminum and features a side pathway that connects the two banjo fitting holes to make sure that fluid/air can easily pass between them. It comes with crush washers and everything needed for a proper install. The Garagistic power steering delete is made right here in the USA. The all-aluminum design is meant to last you a life-time. There are numerous other materials that don't quite hold up as much as they should.; don't compromise, go Garagistic.
PRO TIP: YOU CAN USE THESE STEERING RACK DELETE BLOCKS TO REMOVE, WASH, STORE, AND TRANSPORT STEERING RACKS WITHOUT SPILLING FLUID ALL OVER.
INSTALLATION NOTES
THE STEERING RACK DOES NOT NEED TO BE FULL OF FLUID BEFORE INSTALLATION. ONLY ENOUGH FLUID TO LUBRICATE THE MOVING PARTS IS NEEDED. THE BEST WAY TO ENSURE PROPER OPERATION IS TO LEAVE THE RACK WITH A BIT OF FLUID, INSTALL THE DELETE BLOCK, OPEN THE BLEEDER SCREW AND TURN THE RACK FROM FULL LOCK TO FULL LOCK LEFT AND RIGHT A COUPLE OF TIMES. THIS WILL ALLOW ANY EXCESS FLUID TO BLEED OUT. ONCE ALL EXCESS HAS BEEN REMOVED CLOSE THE BLEEDER AND YOU ARE READY TO GO! WE DO RECOMMEND USING SOME LOCTITE OR SIMILAR THREAD LOCKER WHEN REINSTALLING THE SET SCREW TO PREVENT LEAKING.
